Until the last couple of issues are dealt with, I don’t want to say, as it’s
been a joint project and some decisions still need to be made. It’s had 5-6
months full time development and I’m using it now for projects.
That’s not me being an arse, it’s just playing things safe and not getting into
what it can do, what’s supported, is it free etc etc etc. As soon as it’s
ready, then you’ll know. I’ve only mentioned it, because there is another
option on the table. best steve.

Steve. Is this a Windows based solution? I know that Ross has been working in
QBase for years however, even that requires use of an external control surface
to work.

Steve. Totally agree with you. We need a hi end DAW solution to replace
Sonar 8.5.3. It's great software however, that won't help current VI students
in education. Further more, DD will eventually run out of Sonar 8.5.3 Producer
boxes and who knows what will happen then :-( Think the issue at Cakewalk is
that they are way too busy trying to chase any dollars they can in order to
survive. The crazy thing is that with a little investment, they could pick up
more end users. I have a client over here who would purchase software like that
if it were available. They are aware that DD can supply a new Sonar 8.5.3 box
but understandably don't want to pay those kind of shipping and related costs
for a product that is 5 plus years out of date.

This could possibly change, as some Sonar users are moving over to

I think it’s a good thing we have Reaper, as it is giving an option to
users who don’t want to invest and just dabble with recording, but we still

Steve. You raise some valid points. You are absolutely right. Hadn't
thought of the offset issue but no doubt it will be an issue for sure :-( Shall
have to carefuly considder the cost for this as think there will be a financial
cost with regard to doing this :and I won't be picking up the tab for that -)

Recoding the sets for Reaper is as simple as changing the Window title
name and application name referenced in the sets. Can do a find and replace all
for that :-) As for interest in Reaper and Jaws HSC sets, sure ask the Reaper
folks. Would be interesting to get some numbers :-) Personally planning to keep
Sonar 8.5.3 installed even if I start to dig into Reaper as Sonar has some
great plug-ins. Hmm, could recode all Sonar HSC sets so that they also work in
Reaper. It would be nice to be able to use the Sonitus EQ and Compressor in
Reaper as I have a ton of personalised presets that I use here for both of
those plug-ins.

I should clarify my statement about it being a total
Microsoft issue. What
I mean is that since the OS has to change to accommodate
things like
tablets and the like, it seems that there's this constant
burden that
third-party developers have to scramble to make their
products work under
the new OS; which is fine, as long as there's some sort of
mechanism in

help them do just that. Not everybody has the massive
resources that Microsoft and Apple have to do it;
consequently they're
constantly behind in having to catch up with the latest and
greatest. It
takes a lot of money and resources paying programmers decent
wages, etc.
I don't know what a fair and viable solution is; and though I
understand
the need to keep up with the technology, I agree with you
that right now
we have a system in place that works quite well, and it's
pretty darn
stable.

improvements they have, they had to ditch the old engine and
