Hello all,

I've released CSP on the site, but you've all had a chance to play with it already. There's also a 64 bits Linux version available. I haven't tested in on many different distributions, it's a bit experimental, but you should have a go if you have (a fairly recent version of) Linux installed on a PC and see what happens. Bear in mind it is a binary release, it's not open source, so it won't recompile specifically for your machine. It's Intel/AMD only.

Speaking of which, successfully compiling CSP for Linux only took a day, because I'd already tested my code on GCC under Windows. However, making it as fast as the Visual Studio version took much longer. I had to mess around with many command line switches for a few weekends until I got a satisfactory result. Then creating a package was also time consuming. RPMs are a bit harder to grasp so I went for a Debian package. I'm not entirely sure they're universal but it will have to do for now.

Now that CSP is out I intend to update it frequently to get to the point where the rendering of the development version of Chaoscope is. The idea is to improve the quality of the rendering progressively. A lot has happened on the fractal rendering scene (Mandelbulb anyone?) since Chaoscope was released so I have to catch up now!

To the Chinese student (872465489@xxxxxx) who couldn't download Francois' tools, I'm afraid there's little I can do for you. The files are available in the UK and I'm assuming in most of the rest of the world. Maybe if you try to contact Francois directly he could help you?

Regards,

Nicolas Desprez
