Hi,My name is Scott Murray (bluesparx) and I recently signed up for the chaosope news letter. You had some questions about HyperThreading. I have a Pentium 4 with HyperThreading.
Read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyper-threading and here: http://www.intel.com/technology/hyperthread/ --Scott ------- Original Message ----- From: "Chaoscope" <chaoscope@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi Carl, hello everyone,I'm running a machine with a Pentium 4 HT CPU. My (limited) understanding is that hyper threading is not really two CPUs, but can give a performance boost in some circumstances. Can you say if the new Chaoscope will do so? The windows task manager can display CPU usage as two processors and the current Chaoscope appears to only use only (mostly?) one during rendering. My understanding of HyperThreading is limited too. What I gather is the CPU is only partially duplicated to improve thread switching. Running the dual threaded version of the rendering would theoretically push the CPU usage to 100% but wouldn't necessarily be faster, most likely slower. I'll have to test it to confirm that to you. Also waiting for the release in eager anticipation. Not as much as I am!
