Hi Allison, One thing you might want to do is check to be sure that the driver your scanner is using is the best one. This sounds complicated, but it's really not hard and only ever needs to be done once. What you do is go into the scanning settings and look for a combo box that says "Scanner source." That will be a list of the drivers available on your system. If you only have one then there's nothing to be done. If there is more than one driver in the list, choose one and hit enter. Then scan a page from a book with that driver. Examine the ranked spelling results and recognition stats, and see what the results are. Next, go back and pick a different driver and then scan the same page again. Look at your spelling and recog stats again. Repeat with each driver, and when you've finished see which driver gave you the best results. Choose that driver, and save the scanning settings. Then go in all your settings files, pick the correct driver, and resave them. This way you'll be sure that your results will be the best possible. As others have said, it's good to check your brightness settings with each new book you scan. If there are errors where, for example, M is recognized as III or H is recognized as II your brightness may be too high. If the errors are the opposite, groups of smaller characters being recognized as one blob character, then the brightness might need to be turned down. Hth, and welcome to Minneapolis. Kellie
