I am not saying a person should sit in the corner and whine, but just because a person is quietly going about his day doesn't mean he is doing that at all.

Guess what! I get judged every day on whether I am advocating for my clients. And if I'm not I often hear about it most from the client who isn't willing to do anything for themselves, but believe that everybody owes them, and they should just set back and let somebody advocate for them.

Well, I found out a long time ago that if a blind person really wants something then they had better be willing to do more than set in the corner and whine.
