You are being puzzled by many of the same details which I asked for help to
understand when I started. In fact, about a month ago, probably shortly
before you joined, we had an extensive monumental about dashes, m dashes,
and hyphens.
M Dash sounded like a mistake to me, too because I didn't realize it was
Jaws way of identifying a longer dash mark. Usually they are used before and
after an extra phrase or word within a sentence.
Cindy and Pratik worked out there isn't a space between the m dash and the
words before and after it. With jaws, to make an M dash press insert with
the regular number 4. by tapping e four times you'll hear M dash and I guess
press enter. For Microsoft word, press control plus alt plus the minus sign
on the num pad. This tip was Jakes. I think it might be ok to put 2 dashes
without spaces before, after or between, instead of M dash, but in a book
use all of one or the other. Braille doesn't translate this well, but it
will eventually and they'll look correct in print and be true to the book.

Hi all. Don't know if my earlier post made it here but I wanted to ask if
I convert the .kes back to .rtf will it work and save the page breaks?
Also if I have yest I can or the header at the top of ever other page do I
delete that or leave it? Also should I delete the end dashes? Thanks.
