For a user to get a combination such as Shift+click to work, I'd like to point out that the action is both sequential *and* simultaneous. It's sequential in that the user has to first press (and hold) Shift, then click with the mouse, then release Shift, and it's simultaneous in that the click occurs while Shift is being held down. (However, telling users that it's simultaneous would be risky because many of them would try to press Shift and click with the mouse at exactly the same time, thereby often failing to Shift+click correctly.)
