The monitor on my ARMX6 is a Sony SDM-S75F with both VGA and DVI-D inputs
(by autosense selecting the connected DVI/HDMI input).
Screen size ratio is 5x4 but classic 4x3 mode is (somewhat oval) accepted.
So these are the working screen modes, the latter by preference:
VGA 640x480, 60Hz 4x3
SVGA 800x600, 60Hz 4x3
1024x768, 60Hz 4x3
1280x1024, 60Hz 5x4
*ReadEDID extends/downgrades my self-adapted SDM-S75F mdf by adding a few
non-working extra modes, but fortunately doesn't change the current mode.
*HDMIOn however is disastrous, as it completely cuts off video output. At
first I thought of it as an out-of-range screen mode, but video signals
were realy absent. Restoring by way of F12 --> wimpmode was impossible.
In fact the only way out was a hardware reset.
*Audio SoundDMA#HAL_0007_16000000 (after restart) produced this error:
"Sound command parameters not recognised"
Did any other ARMX6 users experience these same effects?
Basically your display isn't HDMI compliant, so doesn't produce a picture
when chip outputs a full HDMI signal. HDMI audio support is designed for
displays that are HDMI-compliant. Older monitors will not be. I'd
strongly recommend a modern display, but that's obviously up to you.
Basically, you're forcing something that the screen simply doesn't
support. I grant you that a blank screen in such a scenario isn't
desirable. Our problem is balancing the situation where a unit *can* do
these things but may not report everything, vs units which really don't.
The current implementation basically assumes that if you forcibly enable
the feature, you know you have a suitable display.
Kind wishes,
Andrew
