thanks Rod...it is two different places but both affected by how
often and how long the machine is used. The service tech that did the
overhaul on our Amaya last month went over with us what to oil, when
to do it, and then talked about our 'normal' routine use of the
machine. He said that just letting it sit without use...which can be
sometimes a week or more...is just as bad as using it for 24 hours
straight! We hadn't thought that oil would evaporate-it does.
He explained how some of his customers have a regular schedule of
cleaning and oiling besides that called for by the program. Those
that use them all day every day, start the morning off with a
cleaning, checking needles, oiling and checking bobbin, and a couple
extra drops of oil where we do when in use. Others, like us that let
it sit for long periods, he recommended starting off the same way-if
it has set for a week of unuse, clean and oil everything-even if just
an extra drop or two on the needle bar and reciprocator-and then
follow recommended guidelines as it is used.
Typical for us, like today-is a quick one or two 'retail' jobs-then
it sits until I get a commercial order-last week for two days we did
sweatshirts for a swim team-15-20 sweats, front and back-two days.
Then a quick 2 crewneck sweats for a 'retail' order..then it sat all
week until this morning for an 'emergency' fleece vest award for a
group.
Not a single other job scheduled for it...yet!
So if it sits, I would get the oil bottle out by the end of the week
and 'touch up' where needed. Just did the 4 mil. oil job at the end
of the sweatshirt run-so I leave that alone for awhile, otherwise I
would 'top it off'.
The service tech was great about walking through our normal routine
and set up a 'tailored' maintainence routine for us to prevent any
further problems like he found.
So if you can get a service tech out-do the same-sit down and go over
when and how you use the machine and what he would recommend for
'preventative' maintainence based on your use!
Well worth it!
He came out FREE because we renewed the warranty contract-and will be
over once a year, everytime we renew.
