Standifer Gap Marsh, Chattanooga, Hamilton County July 14, 2006, 7:30 PM to 9:00 Least Bittern: 2-3 females, Nest LB24 1 egg July 5, 3 eggs July 7, 4 eggs July 11 and 14 Nest LB28 new July 11, 2 eggs July 14, this is a magnificent nest, bowl 30 inches above water, thick canopy 40 inches above water, green cattail sides from bowl to canopy Total 28 nests this season; No other active nests known; Last nest observation in 2005, July 20, 1 nest with 3 young and 1 egg Great Egret: 8 Great Blue Heron: 1 Green Heron: 1 Little Blue Heron: 1 immature, joined the Great Egrets about 8:50 (half the size of the Greats, wings beat twice as fast, eliminated Great and Tri-colored; absolutely no yellow feet, eliminates Snowy; too slender and graceful for Cattle) Blue Grosbeak: 1 female =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
