[TN-Bird] Standifer Gap Marsh

Standifer Gap Marsh, Chattanooga, Hamilton County, TN
April 7, 2005, light rain
Canada Goose:  nest which had female on 5 eggs 3/21 this morning had female on 
4 eggs, no evidence of 5th egg

Mallard:  4th nest this season, female on 10 eggs, unusual nest in clump of 17 
Ash saplings in shallow water in rushes and cattails, nest was 1 foot above 
water on a pile of decayed cattail pieces.

    No female on 3rd nest at 10 AM or at noon (female on 10 eggs 3/29, female 
on the nest 4/3) 10 eggs and nest looked good, covered with pieces of dead 
rush, either abandoned or orphaned or mother takes long or frequent lunch 
breaks.

Blue-winged Teal:  6 - 10, look like they are pairing, be alert for possible 
nest or young (we had a nest last year, very unusual)

Virginia Rail and Sora: 5 - 10 of each seen and/or heard

Great Egret: 1, my first of season 

Palm Warbler:  1
