I did a download of Killdisk, transferred it to my flash drive,
and then copy to my disasbled pc. Restore is not being done

Perhaps so, but the bit you kill may contain some important windows
settings. If you format, those will be destroyed. You will then have to
create a new setup and configure the operating system from scratch
again. Does that suit you?
