Rebecca ... I'm not sure of the error messages you refer too. Obviously,
I have been out of the loop for awhile and the error messages were
missed by me. However, from the little bit of info above, it sounds to
me as if you have your security settings for your browser set too high.
Some people advocate using the highest security settings available, but
it does limit your being able to see many web sites. You probably use
some version of IE for your browser and I use Netscape so I'm not that
well versed in the operation of IE. I do know that you can check and set
these options by clicking on Tools/internet options/security in IE. The
levels of protection limit what can and cannot be loaded as indicated
beside each zone if you click on each of the icons at the top of the
page. If you click on the slider bar on the left and move it up or down,
it will tell you on the right side what the selected level will or won't
allow you to do with your browser. As to the Task bar icon's
disappearing, I have no idea why that is happening, but it certainly
would be difficult negotiating your way around without them. I doubt
that installing and running the AVG (or any other) antivirus will make
your icons reappear, but if it does find and repair infected files, who
knows what it may help. Sorry I am not more help with your problem.
