I took a few classes at our local college and was told to come up with a
"theme" or "project". I went with "boundaries" and found that it was a lot of
fun
to look for interesting boundaries to photograph. I also noticed that many of
the photos I had already taken fit into the category. And when they were
questionable as to if they fit into the "theme" of "boundaries" it was even
more
fun to add them to the group because it caused people to have to look for and
find the reason that it had been placed into the grouping.

But as far as doing a show and needing a "project" I was asked to do a show
at our local gallery and ALL of my photos fit into the "Simply Beautiful" theme
and that's what they named my show. The project was, "Looking for and finding
beauty all around". It also helped that all of the photos that I showed were
taken within my home town. So, the "project" could also be that I was
documenting my home town. It went well and she sold several prints and we were
all
happy.

I'm still new at all of this but it seems you could come up with a creative
"Theme" or "Project" even after having taken the photos. But usually I don't go
out with a them in mind. But I am very aware of the fact that I'm
photographing my home and nearby surroundings as my long term project.

Looking forward to hearing what others have to teach us about this,

Becky Lynn
