Dennis Arendt reports:
Due to computer problems the Wednesday birders list is coming to you a
little late. The group went into the hills behind LCC. The birding was
slow early in the morning, but picked up nicely. We heard two Hutton's
Vireos; one came in close for photographs. An Orange-crowned Warbler
(FOY for many in the group) also obliged the group by posing for
photographs. Male Rufous Hummingbirds were seen in several places. The
Ruby-crowned Kinglets were abundant; they accompanied us throughout the
morning with their singing. The Eurasian Wigeon, first found during the
Eugene CBC, was still in the ponds near 30th Avenue. The Western
Screech-Owl was seen by two of us. It is on private property, but
visible from the street, at the same location as last year under a
carport at Olive and 31st Avenue. The complete list is below.
