My son teaches machine shop and many of his students are functionally illiterate and innumerate, but he is expected to pass them with top grades anyway. Sad. A lot of the blame is because of broken homes, plus too much TV and or Gameboy crap. In short, their families, if they exist at all, just don't give a diddly dam.
