Hubert, I thought that rampant illiteracy etc was entirely confined to the
USA where every student, no matter how mentally disadvantaged he/she is, is
supposed to graduate high school. My son teaches machine shop and many of
his students are functionally illiterate and innumerate, but he is expected
to pass them with top grades anyway. Sad. A lot of the blame is because of
broken homes, plus too much TV and or Gameboy crap. In short, their
families, if they exist at all, just don't give a diddly dam.
