There is a corner case of matrix encoded surround formats that are also valid n-mono PCM streams. I think people are making too big a deal of this thoughm its not like theres ever a situation where the host knows that the stream is maxtrix encoded and you dont. You either imported it in that form, or you stuffed LCRS into a matrix encoder.
