Which is a fine model, IMHO.  It requires the plugin to explicitly support
the format, which means that LtRt != Stereo.  A stereo attentuator, for
example, would not be able to handle an LtRt Stream, unless the user forced
it (if the host allows that at all - tag it as Stereo, tag it back afterwards).

Note that this goes contrary to some opinions expressed in earlier
discussion of encodings ;)  Those opinions were that connecting LtRt to
Stereo is just fine.  You are now espousing MY position :)
