Somehow my yahoo account didn't show all these new messages until today. Thanks for all the help everyone! JC I will compare the photos to my new alternator before I go to my son's program tonight. The photos look similar but possibly the clocking is different. The new brackets appear to reach the same points as the old ones did, but are more secure because than my old brackets because they are held on by more bolts. But it just looks to me like the distance between the front of the cylinder head and the aft side of the bracket is not enough for the alternator. Also, it appears that if I could squeeze the alternator in there, the pulley does not line up with the pulleys on the water pump. Finally, the fan blades on the pulley look like they're too large (diameter) to go between the upper and lower bracket. I don't think I did a good enough job of comparing the old bracket to the new bracket, but it just seems to me like I would have at least noticed stuff like that. Makes me think maybe I do have the correct alternator and I'm just crazy. I'm at work now but will try to look at it a little tonight. Thanks all! In my area, that's not the big chains, but an independent store that usually costs a bit more but has employees who aren't fast-food rejects.
