It is a matter of preference. But I don't see how a laptop would
alienate anyone, I mean it's not like I'm walking around with a fish
bowl shaped helmet and tanks on my back.
Besides, although I don't wish to go out of my way to alienate anyone, I
don't believe that it is necessary to be overly concerned about it
either.
It is cheaper to get a laptop, but a note taker like the Braillenote,
the Braille Sense, or the Pac Mate can truly make note taking a breeze
without all of the frills that a Laptop has. You don't waste time
booting up, you can turn of a note taker and when you turn it on you are
in the exact same place in the document you were working on, and there
are many other things that note takers do that lend themselves to
efficiency and portability. However, they're not as powerful as a PC,
and there's no getting around that.

I wouldn't think a laptop would look alienating to sighted folks. A
lot of them probably use them, too! Maybe because I don't own a
Packmate, I don't appreciate what it can do. But to my way of
thinking, give me a lightweight laptop and a Bookport, and I would
have the best of both worlds.

Jeremiah 29:11 - 14A
11For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They
are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a
hope. 12In those days when you pray, I will listen. 13If you look for
me in earnest,
you will find me when you seek me. 14I will be found by you," says
the LORD...
