The BNS and BLT, (Braille 'n Speak and Braille Lite), used the Artic chip. It was a whole lot more monotonous than the doubletalk, which is also used in the Braille Lite Millennium. Of course, this is just my opinion, as I consider the DoubleTalk to be my favorite synth. I know, many on this list will think that's horrible, but I don't have a major hearing loss, just an odd sense of taste. -----Original Message----- From: bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Walt Smith Sent: Monday, September 18, 2006 2:25 AM To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bookport] Re: Book port Speech I'm not 100% sure, but I'm reasonably certain that the Doubletalk was used in those two devices. It may have been an earlier release or it may have had some of the adjustments that we don't have access to set in such a way as to degrade the quality of the voice. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michelle Raymond" <mraymon2@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, September 16, 2006 7:18 PM Subject: [bookport] Re: Book port Speech What the Book Port has is better than nothing, & some one has already said that the Double Talk Speech is how APH kept the price down. I have heard worse speech in more expensive products. I can understand this one. I couldn't stand the speech in the Braille Lite or the Braille & Speak. That's my .02.
