It wouldn't use memory on the card, but it would use some of the Book Port's 
built-in memory and that's seriously limited.

The bookport synthesizer, the Doubletalk, is contained on a chip. Since the 
bookport uses no flash memory for its own things, such as the firmware etc., 
then there is no way that they could put a better sounding synthesizer on it 
without using some memory on the card.
