Hi Jon,
A small batch of the toasting bread would be wonderful. I used to get a
fabulous sunflower seed bread that was terrific toasted. Lately I've been
toasting English muffins.
The potato rolls also sound delightful.
I bought an artisan stand mixer quite some time ago; if it's still around it's
in the garage. There simply is not a lot of countertop and storage space.
I would like to learn like in the old days, if possible so as not to have to
haul out a lot of gadgetry. The stand mixer saves time, but will see how I do
with this and then maybe. If I can make a few basic recipes and a sourdough,
I'll be over the moon.
You mentioned you make pizza in your cast-iron; that I also want to try.
I hear you on the cookware seasoning. It sees a lot of olive oil etc. but I
know what to do if sticking becomes an issue. My grandmother taught us the
trick of putting it back on the burner to dry, or at least that's what my
mother says. I don't remember cast-iron at Grandma's; but then on the rare
occasions we were back home, I was probably too busy gobbling cookies and
little pies.
