The odd thing is no place I have ever lived was electric. It's good to know
I'm not alone in this. I really didn't see how I could be.
The current cooktop has an extra high heat front burner right next to the
controls. It's a very light touch trying to turn it down to low without
shutting it off. The controls are on the right; I generally like to work on
the left.

I prefer a gas cooktop over an electric one. You hang around some odd blind
people. The gas burner gives you greater control and, when a recipe says
turn down to low, the flame immediately goes to low. If you do that with an
electric burner, you have residual heat from the coils to deal with for a
while
