We counted 49 species this weekend, including a pair of Shrikes and our
house-list first Mute Swans, which I reported this morning.  Otherwise is seems
that we’re really settling into summer.  The Orioles and other spring-songsters
are almost completely silent now, which means that I really have to work to
find them now. There was a pair of Pewees feeding around one of our post oak
trees all weekend, which makes me wonder if they’re nesting there.
The Shrikes were on top of a dead tree in the woodlot across the road, several
hundred yards away.  The photo are only good enough for ID.
