Nearly every time I stopped to look this weekend, there was some migrant
activity. We added Wilson's and Pine Warblers to our "house list", which
now stands at 110 species. The Wilson's spent several minutes, this
morning, in and around the butterfly bush, ~10-12 feet from the breakfast
nook window. Magnolia Warblers were plentiful both days and yesterday Blue
Gray Gnatcatcher seemed to be everywhere. I got a great look at a
Yellow-breasted Chat this morning after the rain cleared out, which was a
nice consolation considering that the only other one we've seen here was
found dead in the yard, a few feet from the road. Yesterday morning,
between 9-10 CDT, there was an amazing wave of tiny birds that included
several warbler species that I did not manage to identify in the confusion.
We ended the weekend with 5 warblers here at the house, 6 if we included the
Chat. The only other notable was a flock of 15-20 E. Bluebird that were
around all weekend.
