I birded from Sheboygan to Two Rivers this morning. Sheboygan was excellent for gulls with 7 species tallied. They included, beside the standard two, 170 Bonaparte's, 1 Franklin's, 1 Little, 1 Lesser Black-backed and 1 Great Black-backed. The Little, and the Great were 1st year birds, while the Lesser was a 2nd year bird. The Franklin's was in almost full adult plumage. Cleveland, Fischer Creek, Manitowoc and Two Rivers were exceptionally quiet. In fact, there is no gull/shorebird habitat at the Manitowoc impoundment---all grown up. A female Bufflehead and 13 Hooded Mergansers were along the shore by the parking lot. Collins Marsh has developing shorebird habitat, as Bob mentioned. Today there were 25 Lesser Yellowlegs, 25 Least and 1 Semip Sandpipers, 20 Killdeer and 1 Wilson's Phalarope.
