Spent a good part of the day checking out the Lake Michigan harbors. Extremely quiet!! Way too much ice in all the harbors plus on the lake. Starting a Kohler SP I worked north to Sheboygan, Manitowoc, Two Rivers, Point Beach SF, Kewaunee and Algoma before working inland. The only things of note were 20 White-winged Scoters at Sheboygan's North Pt (in real close for nice views) plus a surprise Red-throated Loon. It was actively feeding in close as it worked its way north by the rocky point. Also interesting was Point Beach SF. It was mainly ice but there were scattered open pockets which contained thousands of Long-tailed Ducks. A few were in close but 99% were way out. I estimated 6000! I found one partridge at the V/Hill intersection in Kewaunee co, along with 100 Turkeys. Also watched a Pheasant eating crabapple berries in a tree west of Point Beach SF. This is the most ice on the lake I can recall in years. Daryl Tessen Appleton,, WI #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
