Interesting difference in our HBSP experience today.
When I was there this afternoon, the woods were lousy with sapsuckers,
flickers, creepers, both kinglets, and a bunch of FOY winter wrens. Dozens of
juncos getting ready to pull out. Plus the usual suspects. The lawn west of the
lake parking lot yielded fox sparrow, chipping and white throated, FOY field
sparrow, and FOY brown thrasher.
And for me the lake was very quiet.

I spent a good part of the day birding along Lake Michigan. Starting at
Harrington Beach SP, which was very good, yielded a Red-throated Loon close
to the shore for 20+ minutes, fly-by common Loons, a Red-necked Grebe, Horned
Grebes, and various diving ducks plus a Sharp-shinned Hawk heading south over
the lake. Numerous Bonaparte's Gulls were moving along the lake, plus a
Forster's Tern. The wooded sections of the park were very quiet.
Kohler SP was poor and good. The poor was the lake (literally nothing) while
the Black River Marsh area had nice passerine numbers---standard April
migrants but several (FOY) for me. A Red-br. Nuthatch was coming to the
feeders.
North Pt in Sheboygan had Caspian Terns (FOY).
Several hundred Bonaparte's Gulls were resting on the lake near Cleveland.
Manitowoc and Two Rivers were very quiet.
However Point Beach SF was very good. On the lake were 4 Red-throated Loons,
all three scoters, 4 Great Black-backed, 1 Lesser Black-backed and 1 Glaucous
Gull (all were adults). Other standard waterfowl were present.
With the great weather it was an enjoyable day, plus the fact when I got home
the day tally was 85 species.
