[texbirds] Tuesday morning bird census, Hagerman NWR

When we arrived at the refuge, the northerly wind was just beginning to pick 
up, and it increased as the day progressed. We were able to find 76 species.  
We had one goose today.  A lone Snow Goose.  Duck numbers are decreasing, but 
we do have some Blue-winged Teal arriving.  We found the Long-billed Dowitchers 
that have been reported for a week or so.  3 Purple Martin Scouts have arrived. 
 We were concerned about the Purple Martins because the Martin House was a 
victim of predators during the flooding last year.  Some times the martins will 
not return after this occurs.  We found a couple of early season Northern 
Rough-winged Swallows flying near Wildlife Dr.  The Purple Finches were present 
once again on the road to Meadow Pond, where we also saw 8 Wild Turkeys.
