[texbirds] Tuesday morning bird census, Hagerman NWR

On a nice morning, starting out still, we tallied 71 species.  First white 
geese of the season were seen, 3 Ross's Geese.  We also saw 4 Greater 
White-fronted Geese.  First of season sparrows included 3 White-crowned 
Sparrows, 4 White-throated Sparrows, 2 Swamp Sparrows, 1 Song Sparrow and 1 
Dark-eyed Junco. We saw 1 Western Meadowlark. We saw 2 Hairy Woodpeckers, 1 at 
Goode and 1 on the road to Meadow Pond. Duck species present were 2 
Black-bellied Whistling-Ducks, 8 Gadwall, 2 American Wigeons, 15 Mallards, 104 
Blue-winged Teal, 2 Northern Shovelers, 2 Redheads, 8 Green-winged Teal and 1 
Ruddy Duck.  We saw an Eared Grebe off the end of Goose Point.  Early on there 
was a 3rd year Bald Eagle sitting in a tree on the end of Goose Point. 
Franklin's Gull were circling overhead. As a side note Rusty saw seven Northern 
River Otters crossing Wildlife Dr. going from Taylor Pond to Mineral Marsh.
