[texbirds] Tuesday morning bird census, Hagerman NWR

We finished the day with 86 species, and that is with only 9 species of 
shorebirds.  Shorebird numbers were low because of the recent rain and the 
shortage of mudflats.  The Dickcissels have arrived, as well as Summer 
Tanagers.    We saw a couple of male Yellow-headed Blackbirds in with a flock 
of Red-winged Blackbirds west of headquarters.  We found Upland Sandpipers in a 
field near the corner of Bennett and Short roads.  We saw FOS Solitary 
Sandpipers. Prothonotary Warblers have arrived in good numbers. On the road to 
Meadow Pond we got great looks at a Hairy Woodpecker, one of 3 for the day, and 
a House Wren.  One of the best finds of the day was a female Wood Duck with 13 
Ducklings at Meadow Pond.
