I would be it is a strong hold on the consumer. Althought I did have a
workhorse HP that I loved--it finally died but before it did it refused to
take the generic color ink --the refill as it were. I HAD to get the brand
cartridge or no printy.. I use an HP all in one and use generic..except when
I HAVE to buy brand cause the generic is out of stock..
I have used printer for photos and noticed the color faded but whether it
was generic or brand I wouldn't know. But I don't do many photos so it
really doesn't matter.

Good point... and, which I'm sure you already know but I state here for =
anyone not knowing, most printer warranties will not cover you for =
damage caused by bad third-party inks. Whether that's to try and =
stronghold you into buying their inks, however, is a whole different =
story.

warranty runs out, use whatever ink cartridge or refill kit your needs=20
