Hi, The Stuart engine is certainly a nice one but I have seen the packaged with the parts and castings. To be honest the castings are nice, like they used to be in the "old" days. The rest of the material is just plain useless. To short to grip, nearly big enough, bent whatever. Dump the lot and get some bar stock instead works much more comfortable. I have a friend who build the V10 he still has the raw material set less castings unused. What would be the castings worth having? Probably only the bed casting and the cylinder. The rest, for instance eccentrics, can easily be made from stock material. O, there biggest trick the drawings, not available separate ? Now for two castings and a drawing that's some price for a small engine. Have you looked at the bigger ums, for a real steamboat ? Cost you the price of a second hand car. Have a look at http://www.stoomgroepholland.nl/ Under the heading "tekeningen" and then "stoom machines" they have some nice drawings, no castings needed. Two Times comes from that source. If not convinced have a look at the pages below and use the link "Foden" It is still under construction in 2inch scale with no castings at all, all fabricated and milled from solid. By the way if you could lay your hands on the Stuart drawings. You yourself perhaps or a computer friend could scan the cylinder drawing. Import it into CAD and overdraw it with all the measurements you need. Failing that a good copy and a rule could set you on the way to making chips.
