Dave

We went through ten balls of string, leaving just eleven for today and
tomorrow. I told my apprentice ropemaker to take it a bit easier today!

Besides a bit of fun for lots of visitors, it also made some realise that
they can make rope for their own models as well.

I spent a pleasant few hours at Sandown, the exhibits are of a very high
standard. I didn't buy much as there were not too many bargains but if you
looked, there were still some decent buys to be had. Peters rope making
machine on the IDSME stand was getting plenty of attention, how many balls
of string did you use ??? All in all, a pleasant day topped off with a few
glasses of falling down water and it got me out of the house for the day.

Dave.

I've had the opportunity, after setting up our stand, to view some of the
exhibits. Definitely worthwhile. Some are a real inspiration.

At Sandown exhibits are on the first floor in two sections. Don't just look
at stands and stalls on the ground floor but take the escalator upstairs and
enjoy looking at the fruits of countless hours of dedicated engineering
work. And if you get bored you can always wander over to the IDSME stand
and make yourself a rope as a momento!
