policy evolves - lets see what happens to this, will it evolve or
will it tank?
Ideas evolve and discussion should continue on that idea and there will
always be pros and cons on any idea...
Care should be taken at every single point of time that the discussion over
such a thought is not directed towards a person or entity (except for
examples!)..
if allowed, personal vendatta alone will remain.. so that the whole idea
would get spoiled at the end...
also it is not at all necessary that one has to follow some ideology before
putting it into some kind of a discussion.. we may not follow something but
will feel something will be good either for us or for the society if
adopted... like use of plastics etc., even the use of free software
itself...
Good that such an idea was taken up and introduced by parthan.
We had a similar discussion few weeks back about the existence of hindi
mailing list on #linux-india IRC. Well few suggested to post in Hindi or
Tamil to the chennai LUG or Delhi LUG and wait for the results to come!
i personally suggested not to make ILUGC mailing list a place for it and
keep it english (since i felt the presence of non-tamil speaking guys here -
unfortunate though!) and instead invited technical people who can also
handle simple Tamil to make use of other mailing list (fsf-tn, ubuntu tamil
team etc.,) to answer queries in Tamil.
above all, we all are here to value freedom... here the idea is, freedom to
express one's thought in the Language of their choice... It would be
expressed best if it is one's mother tongue! Tamil Nadu being the state
Tamil is the obvious choice! :-)
(Personal thoughts on this are more, may be i will find sometime to put it
in my blog as i feel its trivial here..)
