Hello LUGies,
This is something IMHO - I hereby like to inform as well as suggest
people that you can ask questions in local language of the mailing list
as well. Therefore, if you are not comfortable in asking a question in
English or think you need to clarify things in a better way, which might
be possible when you use your local (mother tongue) language (which all
of us can understand, perhaps), go ahead and ask in Tamil.
From now, this Mailing List welcomes asking questions in Tamil as well
as English. The replies will be made either in Tamil or English
depending upon the linguistic capabilities of the replier. Also, members
can seek other's help in translating the question as well as answer.
Please do not complain that non-Tamil readers can not read such mails.
Perhaps this holds true to any mailing list in India/Abraod. You can ask
questions and interact in Regional/Local Language.
Note: Please do no use Thanglish or your own lingos. Please use standard
Tamil which need not be literature Tamil but at least one which people
can understand well.
Some tips to newbies asking questions,
1. Reduce the amount of greetings and formalities before asking what you
want to.
2. When you are asking something, please specify the environment you are
in, such as which Distro, which kernel, which software, which version
etc. If it is a hardware related question please specify the
configuration of the system you are working with.
3. If you want to ask something, just ask. Make sure to include the
following..
* What you are intended to do ?
* What you tried to do and with what ?
* Reason for trying it that way (if any)
* What you expected and what did happen ?
* What were the errors (full details, log files, etc)
* What do you want to achieve or what kind of help/information are you
seeking ?
These are not rules, but things we learnt and developer from years of
using mailing lists. These will help us in better understanding of your
problem and offer a better solution.
Hope to get all your supports to keep the mailing list and the ILUGC
going. All comments and addition of points are welcome. :)
