In regards to paragraph (1), going to the CDNUsers group will not stop any topic from going slightly off topic and will still be listed under the original thread. People do not often chage the topic of the thread, hence the confusion. I agree with para(2);users don't want to reference two forums and judging from the responses, the vast majority of users prefer this forum. Cadence states there is a large user base already, but upon investigating I recognize only a few people that normally hang out on this list. There seems to be a different world on that forum with some good topics that could be shared. I find it interesting that a parallel thread to this discussion is not on the CDNusers list. Cadence will have to be so compelling(copying convenience & immediate visibility of this forum) before denizens of this list would flock to the CDN group. Until that time arrives,I'll be hanging here. With the current Freelists forum, an email thread/question often gets segmented into multiple threads that all contain information about the same topic. When this happens, as it has with this particular transition thread, I find it both inefficient and ineffective. The information gets fragmented into many independent chains and it becomes a chore to sift thru the all the threads that have spawned from the original. With the cdnusers forum, all the replies will automatically always be associated with the original post. You can see all of the replies for the original post in one place without having to jump from thread to thread. 2. It very inefficient for both customers and Cadence to have to follow/respond to more than one forum. It is clear that the mainstream user communications channel will be thru cdnusers.org. As the old saying goes, you lead the horses to water, but you can't make em' drink............ That said, I truly hope that everyone will at least give the new cdnusers forum a chance and try it for awhile. Best Regards, Randy Randy Bye PCB Engineering > UNISYS , Imagine it. Done. Anyone who can use the new cdn "forum" can subscribe to this email list. Sorry for being a curmudgeon, but I just haven't heard a thing of substance that necessitates this change.
