Members and Friends of Austin Mennonite Church

I pray you are feeling the renewing presence of God's spirit moving in and around you.

Knowing when to reevaluate discoveries from the past that guide our thoughts and actions becomes an important consideration for our continuing growth to maturity.  All of us bring into the present valuable experiences and concepts from the blessings and exposures that have educated us about how we choose for our life to be infested while living in the earth.  However, if we rigidly hold on to premature observations then we may miss the unfolding revelation of what is true and eternal, essential things for us to embrace.  One of the challenges for Christians is how we understand the nature and character of the creator God revealed in the biblical narrative.  This collection of scriptures informs us of experiences of persons in one specific cultural religious history in association with their quest to live responsibility and honorably within the creation.  This is our religious heritage wherein we search for light and understanding.  In the texts before us today, we find both light and understanding.

The scriptures we will consider this next Sunday are Exodus 24:12-18; Matthew 17:1-9; and 2 Peter 1:16-21.  Thoughts prompted by these passages will compose the sermon, "Then they only saw Jesus.'

The Announcement follow below and the Worship Schedule for March 2011 is both copied below and attached.

May it go well with you. Sincerely,
Garland Robertson
