47 total species for the day. Shorebirds continue to be hard to find because
of shortage of habit accessible to birders birding from a vehicle. Some of the
marshes have been flooded on an ongoing basis but due to the heat the water
evaporates and soaks in quickly.
3 Killdeer, 1 Spotted Sandpiper and 1 greater Yellowlegs were the only
shorebirds to be found. The vegetation in some of the marshes is higher than a
large tractor is tall. Some of the marshy areas are being mowed so this should
help later in the fall. We did have a couple of Wilson's Warblers and a couple
of Yellow Warblers.
