[texbirds] Tuesday morning bird census, Hagerman NWR

The morning started out calm, warm and humid, becoming breezy mid morning.  We 
saw 10 species of shorebirds, including 4 American Avocets, 2 Semipalmated 
Plover, 30 Stilt Sandpipers, 2 Long-billed Dowitchers, 2 Western Sandpipers, 
Killdeer, Least Sandpipers, Lesser and Greater Yellowlegs and Spotted 
Sandpipers. Dead Woman Pond was active with an Olive-sided Flycatcher, at least 
3 Red-headed Woodpeckers, 1 Hairy Woodpecker and a flyby Pileated Woodpecker. 
There were 2 Tricolored Herons in the Harris Creek area near Wildlife Drive.  
There were ducks in Mineral Marsh including 2 juvenile Black-bellied 
Whistling-Ducks, 1 American Wigeon. 3 Northern Shovelers, and some Blue-winged 
Teals. At Deaver Pond we saw 9 White-faced Ibis and a couple of Red-shouldered 
Hawks. We saw 4 Loggerhead Shrikes along the roads on the west side of the 
refuge. We found 3 Baltimore Orioles at the Goode picnic area.
