They end up in shelter's or in rescue and maybe they get a new start and a
home. That depends on how much damage has been done by these "commercial
breeders" and the "professional, caring stores" they sell to. We have a Cocker
who
started his life at some place like Hunte's. A woman who went to the pet
store often as she has fancy fish watched the puppy go from well over a
thousand
dollars to $150 over a 5 month period of time, all the while growing but
being housed in the same small cage. When she saw the pup could not even turn
around she bought the pup knowing she could not keep him (severe allergies)
and
started calling rescue's. She felt if no rescue could be found a shelter and
euthanasia would be kinder than the life she had watched in that pet store.
Of course we are struggling with teaching him not to poop and lay in it, eat
it, roll in it. And that the world is not so scary since he never saw
anything but the inside of a cage his entire life. At 7 months it is unknown
if he
will ever be adoptable. I am sure he wanted to be born in a Commercial
Breeding Facility ~ a fancy word that might be better defined under Puppy
Mill.
(yeah right; but then he has no voice to complain and too many people find
this
way of breeding and selling appropriate and acceptable) I think Marley would
argue that point if he had a voice.
