Sorry, but that's a big stretch. If they are watching Netflix they
probably do not watch much current broadcast network TV.
Craig descends ever more into the absurd.
If they cannot afford broadband, they probably cannot afford a DVR.
Some people use broadband, but not for streaming to the big screen. Quantify
these wild assertions of yours, Craig. And, btw, it's infinitely easier to
afford a PVR, than it is to afford fast broadband service. PVRs are cheap, and
a one-time expense. Here, courtesy Heer Cooleman:

Nothing specious about THE FACT that broadcasts are live streams
Everyone knows that broadcast is a one-way "live" stream, but the specious
aspect is your implication that you've said anything useful. The way the
content is used, consumed, is all that matters. When I said that people augment
Internet TV with ATSC, it does not mean that the OTA aspect MUST be live
viewing. Everything depends on what online services they have access to. For
instance, during the Olympics, I have to use ATSC and the PVR. That content was
not available FOTI.
And now you agree that viewing a time shifted version of a scheduled
program stream is comparable to watching the show live.
That's another nonsensical idea that I never subscribed to.
False. The last stat, from July 2015, which btw YOU posted, was only
39% live. You really need to retain these numbers, Craig.
Wrong.
Are you freakin' kidding me? You posted the article, evidently without reading
it. One time, I asked you directly what the article stated wrt live viewing,
and you failed that test. Two other times, I've quoted that number back to you.
And you forgot it again? Don't play this silly game. You always lose.

But there is no spectrum crunch for broadcasters,
Sure there is. It looks like they have lost Ch 38-51, after having lost 52-69,
after having lost 70-83.
Broadcasters are highly inefficient users of spectrum because of the use
of big stick, high power transmitters.
You're just repeating your old saw, which is largely false, and I've explained
it to you multiple times. Even in crowded areas, like up and down the East
Coast, markets mostly reuse the same frequencies, every other major market.
Even with SFNs, they would have to do much the same thing, to serve their whole
market area including the distant suburbs. And don't hold your breath about any
tight-mesh SFNs, even with ATSC 3.0.
My assumption is that the ISPs are in a far better position to host
edge servers for the congloms.
That's your assumption, but it's just an assumption. CDNs exist for a reason,
Craig.
