I meant re-runs on the main channel. Anyway even with just OTA there is plenty of content, always something to satisfy or drive away boredom;-). Overhere the DVB-T boxes have been firmly stuck in 576I analog output.

Okay, Internal Tuner without an analog output on the TV, could be problematic,

In the US, where SCART never existed, these ATSC 1.0 boxes have been
available with HDMI output and analog baseband outputs (composite,
component). My Philips PVR, actually manufactured by Funai, is set up
that way too. I'm not sure how old it is, but probably at least 10
years old now. The newer ones may have dropped their analog outputs
entirely.

but like I said perceived value of individual broadcast items has become less
since the 80s, when the quantity of content on offer was lower. With US
braodcaster now also operating their own multiplexes.

True, but broadcasters don't use their multiplex that way. If you want
to watch the current, high value content from the TV networks, your
options are either to watch it "by appointment," the old-fashioned
way, or to watch time shifted via PVR or streaming.

The other OTA subchannels tend to show much older reruns, even decades
old, and of course, they too would need to be watched "by
appointment."
