The market for set-top boxes in the U.S. is ALREADY MUCH LARGER than in the UK. But these boxes have nothing to do with off-air reception. This is to be expected in a country where 85% of home have chosen NOT to receive OTA broadcasts as their primary source for television. If you net out the homes that 'may" be interested in an ATSC STB, you have a potential market of about 16.8 million homes [112 million homes x 15%]. Of these, a sizable percentage will move to cable or DBS if NTSC is shut down. Another sizable percentage will do as they are doing today- just saying no to TV. That leaves a potential market that is considerably smaller than the number of homes in the U.K. Regards Craig ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can UNSUBSCRIBE from the OpenDTV list in two ways: - Using the UNSUBSCRIBE command in your user configuration settings at FreeLists.org - By sending a message to: opendtv-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
