I spent today birding around Florence with Tye Jeske and Josh Galpern.
Highlights were a female Black Scoter between the jetties, an Osprey over the
channel, Swamp Sparrow at Waite Ranch and a female selasphorus hummingbird in
Westlake by the Siltcoos River bridge. All of these were discovered by Josh and
Tye.
Lots of Red-necked Grebes in the channel, and loons and grebes were generally
common and widespread. Heavy mist over the ocean prevented a useful seawatch
Josh and Tye can add what I forgot.
