Not true, Glenda...did you actually try what Anne and I suggested?  You
don't need "access" to the Excel file...you are not filtering that...you are
filtering the data you now have brought into the Word file....and you DO
have access to that once you've done the merge...reread the steps both Anne
and I gave you...it's really simple if you do it this way

Anne's steps and mine are for Word 2002...but in Word 2000, you can do it
also...once you've completed the merge, go back to the Mail Merge dialog box
and look at the bottom section..there's a button that says something like
"Query options"...it's right beside the merge button...just use that to
choose your Communication field, then choose "Does not contain" in the next
box and type a @ in the third box.

internet-based system. The only thing I can do is include the fields in
my merge document. I have no other access or control of the data file.
