Hi,
I have an ipad mini which I find OK. But I think if you are not too
familiar with an ipad and if you are helping your wife then I would
personally go for a laptop. Then when your wife becomes more confident with
the laptop then I guess if she wanted to she could go for an ipad.

I have been considering what to get for my wife, and iPad or Laptop, so she
can have her own machine. However she would need me to help her with it as I
am way more familiar with computers, but I am not familiar with the iPad,
whereas I use an iMac desktop, the laptop would be similar.
