Initially my consideration was that she can use the web for its' many resources but also she is a very visual person and a talented artist, she likes photos or images. I wonder whether the larger screen of a laptop, plus the storage space fro photos would become a point of preference. She may even use the Apple publishing tools to produce a book of her work. This kind of thing would be better done on a laptop I think, even for the larger screen. I know it will cost a bit more but if the smaller ipad prevents these things it would be worth the extra. I figure that a Mac is better if you tend towards producing, an IOS device is fien if you tend more towards consuming. As an example, I use my iPhone for podcast and audio book listening, youtube and netflicks videos etc., and the occasional email. For producing documents spreadsheets, longer emails etc. I go with my Mac. I admit that part of this is not having an external keyboard for my Iphone, but my wife has an iPad with an external keyboard and a Macbook, and she follows the same trends I do. Just some thoughts.
