As read at today's memorial service:
In Memory of Mark Gurevitch
Physics is the most difficult of disciplines.
It has a sound to it, phizz-iccs or phzics,
and fearsome awe to it: chaos, uncertainty, entropy.
Much of the math is beyond me but
the concepts cause my mind to soar,
stretch imagination
with each unintiated visit,
a yoga of the mind.
Mark was of *this* world.
And so he smiled.
When we talked of great or banal things,
he smiled,
because he knew the background, you see,
the greatness of what lies behind
the curtain of our daily lives.
And now he's gone,
maybe to find out more,
maybe to contribute his remaining molecules
to our continuing physic.
